Virtual Learning Launch Updates

Welcome to Mount Royal Elementary/Middle School. It is very important that we have updated information for your children. Updated information may include; new home address, new phone numbers, new email address, or even updated immunizations. If you have not received any emails from Principal Stephen Skeen (firstname.lastname@example.org), most likely we do not have an updated email address. If you have any new contact information please email Ms. Brown (email@example.com).

Teacher Assignments and Campus Portal
This year, we will be using Campus Portal for parents to view their child’s teachers, classes and grades. This is a crucial part of staying connected while we engage in distance learning and we hope to have 100% our families connected this way. As of 8/27, – all students enrolled at Mt. Royal are assigned to their teachers for SY 20/21. If you don’t have a campus portal account, you can create one by clicking HERE! If you have issues – you can call ITD at 443-984-2000 or call the Mount Royal office at 410-396-0864 between 9 AM and 3 PM to update your information in order to register.
On Sept 3 – All teachers facilitated virtual parent orientations to fill parents and students in on the instructional tech programs/applications, schedules, expectations, grading, attendance, communication etc. Recordings of Orientations can be found HERE.
Teachers have provided detailed schedules, however, for family planning purposes, a general schedule that is attached to the parent email and can be seen by clicking HERE for Elementary School and HERE for Middle School. Please note that the instructional day is from 9 AM – 3 PM for most students and we are providing an increased amount of synchronous/live instruction daily. Class times were determined by guidance from City Schools District Office. Note: ELA = English Language Arts, Synchronous = Live Instruction with teacher, SPAR = Special Area Resource (Art, Physical Education, Music, Spanish, Library, Theater).
We have received several questions about uniforms for virtual learning. We are not requiring students to wear uniforms to engage in virtual learning.
Device Distribution and Academic Materials
Devices: Laptops will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis and will be given to every student in the household. Additionally, we do not have hotspots to distribute yet. An adult, 18 or older must be present for a child to take a device. Please know that we have a limited supply and ask that laptops are picked up only for students who don't have a laptop to engage in virtual learning.
Academic Materials: To clarify – students will be receiving materials that are required for their coursework that are not accessible online. These materials will be bagged and prepared by grade level and will include Wit and Wisdom (English Language Arts) workbooks and accompanying novels for Quarters 1 and 2, composition notebooks. Academic Materials can be picked up Monday - Friday, From 8:30 AM - 2 PM.
